MX600

Jupiter Systems, Inc.

The MX600 supports up to six 1280x1024 color displays at user selectablerefresh rates of 60, 66 or 72 Hz. Based on the 33MHz Intel i960CA RISCprocessor with two-way interleaved video memory, the MX600 runsJupiter's highly optimized X11 X server software. A single keyboard andmouse (or trackball) supports all displays with a single cursor, theuser simply moves the cursor off the boundary of one display and thecursor appears on the next display as though they were one. Jupiter'sVirtual Screen (TM) feature allows all displays to be treated as a singlelogical display of larger dimensions. For instance, a 2x2 array ofdisplays would be a logical display of 2560x2048 pixels in size while a3x1 array would be 3840x1024 pixels. In this mode a common color tableis used for all displays, windows can span multiple displays and can bemoved freely anywhere on the extended display surface. Jupiter's multi-channel video option for the MX600 provides a whole new dimension in livevideo support. In a multi-display configuration users can view up tofour real-time, full color video windows or expand a single video windowto 2560x2048 pixels in size. Up to four video signals can be digitizedsimultaneously (NTSC or PAL, composite or S-video). Digitized signals maybe viewed on any of the displays. With Virtual Screen (TM) video windowscan be moved freely anywhere on the extended display surface and can beexpanded to fill the entire display surface. Multiple Ethernets aresupported and both regular (AUI) and thin Ethernet connections areprovided. The MX600 also provides hardware pan and zoom (independentfor each screen), hardware cursor and the ability to map 12-bit imagedata into the 8-bit frame buffer(s). The unit comes standard with 4MB ofDRAM (expandable to 128MB), 2MB of VRAM (per display) and high contrast19" color monitors. Jupiter's highly optimized X Server softwarerigorously adheres to the X protocol and X rendering specifications. TheMX600 supports TCP/IP network protocols NFS, FTP and TFTP for boot andfont service, as well as Telnet, SNMP, rlogin, XDMCP and BOOTP (forcentralized administration). DECnet protocols MOP, DAP and CTERM areoptionally supported. Concurrent use of both TCP/IP and DECnet protocolsis supported in both single and multiple Ethernet environments. TheMX600 is field-expandable and is available in a compact mini-towerchassis or in an optional rackmount cabinet.
